League of Legends K/DA could be making a comeback with ‘WATCH ME’

K/DA may finally be ready to return to the League of Legends stage, with a newly registered song bringing together a popular group of songwriters. A new League song titled WATCH ME has been registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, or ASCAP, with K/DA listed as the performers. Image via Riot Games The registration lists Nija Aisha-Alayja Charles, Felicia Ferraro, Sebastien Najand, Ali Tamposi, and Federico Vindver as writers. It does not include a release date or confirm that Riot Games is preparing a new K/DA project, but the combination of names behind the song makes the registration particularly noteworthy. The names attached to WATCH ME are arguably just as interesting as the song’s title. Nija Charles, who is also known professionally as Amnija, has built an impressive catalog across pop, R&B, and hip-hop. The Grammy-nominated songwriter has credits on Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s Rain on Me, Ariana Grande’s Positions, and Beyoncé’s Water. She has also worked with artists including Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Drake. Her involvement could be particularly interesting for K/DA given the group’s history of blending Western pop with K-pop influences. Then there is Felicia “Feli” Ferraro, another songwriter with extensive experience in the K-pop space. Ferraro has songwriting credits on BTS’ Run BTS and Coi Leray’s Players. Her publisher also lists work on David Guetta, Anne-Marie, and Coi Leray’s Baby Don’t Hurt Me, as well as Normani’s Waves and Chris Brown’s Undecided. That K-pop experience makes Ferraro a natural fit for a potential K/DA track. Image via Riot Games Perhaps the most significant name in the registration for League fans is Sebastien Najand. He is closely associated with Riot Games’ music projects and has credits across some of the biggest songs in the League of Legends universe. His songwriting and production work includes K/DA’s POP/STARS, THE BADDEST, and other Riot music projects, while his wider credits include RISE, GODS, Legends Never Die, and HEARTSTEEL-related music. He is currently a Principal Composer at Riot Games and has also worked extensively on Riot’s Arcane music, including credits as a composer, producer, and mixing engineer. It also shows that the writing team has direct experience helping create the sound of League’s virtual artists. Ali Tamposi has co-written some of the biggest pop songs of the past decade, including Camila Cabello’s Havana and Señorita, 5 Seconds of Summer’s Youngblood, DJ Snake and Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You, and Selena Gomez and Marshmello’s Wolves. Her catalog also includes Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You), which became one of the defining hits of Clarkson’s career. Interestingly, Tamposi has also worked on more recent K-pop and global pop releases. She is credited alongside Federico Vindver on KATSEYE’s My Way, giving the reported WATCH ME team another connection to the modern global pop landscape. Vindver is credited as a songwriter and producer on Meghan Trainor’s Made You Look, one of the biggest songs from her Takin’ It Back era. He is also a co-writer of Coldplay’s Higher Power, alongside the band’s members, Max Martin and Denise Carite. His catalog therefore adds another layer of contemporary pop and K-pop crossover experience to the reported K/DA track. K/DA’s last major release was ALL OUT in 2020, meaning WATCH ME would represent the group’s first new song in roughly six years if it is eventually released. The group’s original debut single, POP/STARS, became one of Riot’s biggest musical successes and established K/DA as one of gaming’s most recognizable virtual music acts. More importantly, the reported writing team does not look random. It combines a Riot Games composer deeply involved with League’s music history, major Western pop songwriters, and writers with substantial K-pop experience. According to the circulating information, the new K/DA FIRESTARTER lineup will feature Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa, while HEARTSTEEL 2026 is reportedly set to include Aphelios, Ezreal, Kayn, K’Sante, Sett, and Yone. The leaked skin lineup is particularly interesting given that both virtual groups have been relatively quiet since their previous major releases. K/DA and HEARTSTEEL are also part of Riot’s much larger League music universe. The game has repeatedly turned its champions into virtual musical acts spanning different genres, from the heavy metal of Pentakill to K-pop-inspired K/DA, hip-hop group True Damage, and pop boy band HEARTSTEEL. The developer itself has previously described this musical lineup as covering everything from metal and pop to K-pop, showing how music has become a major part of League’s identity beyond the game itself. HEARTSTEEL made its debut in 2023 with PARANOIA, featuring Kayn, Ezreal, Sett, Yone, K’Sante, and Aphelios. Meanwhile, K/DA debuted back in 2018 with POP/STARS, eventually returning with the ALL OUT EP in 2020. That does not prove a K/DA comeback is imminent, but if WATCH ME eventually becomes an official release, Riot has assembled a songwriting lineup that certainly looks capable of producing another K/DA-sized pop hit. For now, League fans will have to wait for Riot to make the first official move. K/DA may not have returned just yet, but WATCH ME has certainly given fans something to watch.
