How big is the map of Leonida in GTA 6? Full map size explained

Leonida is one of the most impressive parts about GTA 6, but how big is it exactly? The map of Grand Theft Auto 6 is shaping up to be Rockstar’s biggest open world yet. Set across the fictional state of Leonida, the map includes the return of Vice City alongside beaches, swamps, rural areas, small towns, islands, and wilderness. Rockstar has yet to reveal an official measurement for Leonida’s total size. However, estimates given to us by Rockstar indicate that the map of Leonida in GTA 6 will be significantly larger than both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2’s maps. How big is GTA 6’s Leonida map? While we don’t have any sort of official measurement of Leonida just yet, we do have a solid estimate of its size thanks to Rockstar’s comparisons to the maps in GTA 5 and RDR2. Of course, it should also be noted that we have a leaked image of the entire map in GTA 6. The developers stated that GTA 6’s map will be roughly 2.5x bigger than GTA 5’s map of Los Santos, which is around 50 square miles. If we do some quick math, that means Leonida will be roughly 120-130 square miles. Here’s a quick table to showcase GTA 6’s map size compared to Rockstar’s other games: GameEstimated Map SizeGTA 6 Comparison GTA 6 (Leonida)~118–132 sq miN/A GTA 5 (Los Santos)~49 sq mi~2.5x smaller Red Dead Redemption 2 (Western USA)~29–30 sq miUp to 3x smaller If those estimates are accurate, the GTA 6 map could be more than twice the size of GTA 5’s world. That would make Leonida one of Rockstar’s largest open worlds to date. And size isn’t the only thing that makes the GTA 6 map impressive. Vice City is surrounded by a wide variety of locations, including Port Gellhorn, the Leonida Keys, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Of course, we saw something very similar in GTA 5, with downtown Los Santos and its surrounding areas only being a small part of the map, which also included mountain ranges and more rural towns. However, Rockstar has stated that Vice City alone is around 2x larger than Los Santos, which means that you’ll be able to explore even more of the more densely populated areas of Leonida in GTA 6 compared to GTA 5. We also haven’t even seen a majority of Mount Kalaga National Park, which could be massive in scale, or the Leonida Keys and all the islands that it has. Suffice it to say, GTA 6 will have Rockstar’s biggest map ever in Leonida. What most of that map looks like is still a mystery, but we’ll find out just what the map has in store when GTA 6 launches in November 2026. There could also be plenty of secrets to find in Leonida, such as a Dexter Morgan Easter Egg that fans already found in GTA 6.
