Owlcat Games showed both a new trailer and additional gameplay during GameStar’s Find Your Next Game showcase, covering exploration, conversations, combat, and the inevitable point where a relatively sensible infiltration becomes a firefight. The Captain and their twin sibling, J, are trying to recover data stolen from them on Pinkwater station. They initially enter the Protogen base undercover, speak with employees, and attempt to reach its storage area without attracting attention, while the rest of the crew provides technical help from elsewhere. An unexpected third party eventually interrupts the operation and releases a bioengineered creature inside the facility, forcing the siblings to fight their way out. Ganymede itself should be familiar to The Expanse fans, as the Jovian moon becomes one of the series’ major locations, and Protogen is central to the protomolecule experiments that drive the early books and TV seasons. Osiris Reborn tells a new story within that existing timeline, beginning with the player as a Pinkwater Security mercenary caught in the Eros disaster before becoming captain of the Gemini and assembling their own crew. The studio has been perfectly willing to acknowledge the influence, but its familiar RPG habits are still here: the Captain can be an Earther, Martian, or Belter, choices affect relationships and quest outcomes, and companions can open different options during missions. The studio showed more of those systems in March, when it revealed the Exploits mechanic that lets companions contribute directly during combat. Players normally take two crew members into the field, while characters left aboard the Gemini can still assist remotely depending on their abilities. That presentation also confirmed Zafar and Michael among the recruitable companions. Players have already been able to try part of the game through a closed beta that began April 22. Its mission takes place earlier in the story on Pinkwater 4, where the Captain meets Zafar and deals with Protogen catching up to the crew, making the new Ganymede trailer look considerably further into the campaign. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn releases in spring 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one.
